Keeping clams

I was wondering whether or not clams could live under power compacts. *I've hear that they need intense light. *Are halides the only lighting option with clams? *I know that the squamosa clam's lighting needs is not as high as the other kinds of clams but halides are much better for its growth. *I'm probably not going to be able to keep clams but I am intrigued nonetheless. *Thanks.

Unfortunately no. Clams should be kept under very intense lighting with the right spectrum. Some posted efforts were using overspec'd NO using lamp drivers (the IceCap 660) and with success but I find it more comfortable to have MH and Acts combined.
