IPSF.com Packages

Hello All,

I am looking at getting some kind of Invert package from IPSF.com (Indo-Pacific Sea Farm)...I think the Mix N' Match Special would be the best bet for me with a 55 gallon setup and small fuge.

Here is what I am thinking about getting:

6 sandbed clams
Short Feather Caulerpa / Long Feather Caulerpa (which is better)
Amphipod bredding kit (counts as 3 items)
6 Baby Bristle Worms
6 Baby Trocus Grazers
6 Microhermits
Tang Heaven Red (I'm probably getting a Yellow Tang upon return from vacation)

What do you think about this package and IPSF in general? Any concerns/issues and please comment on the things I have on the list.

I like IPSF.com. However, don't waste your money on the sandbed clams. They don't live long.

How much is this package? I wouldnt bother with the bristle worms, you should get plenty from your liverock...at least I did. Also..I think the best thing you can do for your sand bed is get a nice amount of someone elses livesand. I got several form different tanks and have a very diverse sandbed. I actually paid 20 bucks for a shuebox size box of livesand from this guys 9 year old tank. There was somany worms in it I couldnt beleave it. Like the whole thing was almost all worms and worm tubes. There was micro-starfish and spaghetti worms, bristleworms, Sooo much life. As you see I was impressed but I get excited easily when it comes to my hobby. I still have his email if anyone else wants to get some. It sure helped my tank.

If you want hermit crabs stay away from the green hermits..they are a pain in the you know what. Get the blue ones..they are cool to watch and devour green algea pretty good. I also have a conch. They make good additions. Oh yea the snails that live under the sand and pop up when you feed the tank are great to keep the sandbed stired. Stay away from any starfish the is listed as a sand sifting star...except the micro ones. The sandsifters will wipe out your worms in your sandbed. At least I have read that many places. I like the green brittle starfish. Some people here will say to stay away from them because they can eat your snails but if you keep them fed with a chunk of seafood once or twice a week they will leave them alone. At least mine have plus they grow to a nice size and are forgiving with the temp and ph swings somewhat. At least mine have been this summer with my fans blowing across my tanks to keeo them cool. Never forget to turn off a fan at night after it cools. I had my tank down to 73 degrees one day when I woke up and had left the fan on. Wont do that again...knocking on my wood desk.

lets see what else....oh yea...get more livesand from other tanks. Worth mentioning again.

Hey Jay,

Can I have that guys e-mail address...I could really use some good live sand with a lot of mini-brittles and worms! I picked some up from a LFS that was giving it away because they were going out of business, but their stuff wasnt theat great and I only got a few snails and like 1 mini-brittle.

Inwall, did you buy some of those clams? How thick were their shells?

IPSF ROCKS, I WOULDNT BOTHER WITH THE CLAMS THOUGH, MINE WERE MOSTLY DOA AND THE OTHER TWO DIED THE SAME DAY. THANKFULLY THEY HAVE VERY GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND PROMISED TO SEND 6 MORE PLUS A FREE CANDYCANE CORAL. i ORDERED THE MIX AND MATCH WITH 6 CLAMS, AMPHIPOD BREEDING KIT ( I RECEIVED TOO MANY TO COUNT IN ALL STAGES OF LIFE), RED AND YELLOW GRACILARIA (COMPLETELY FILLS MY 10G REFUGE), ANTHELIA POLYPS WHICK ARE AWSOME, THE N REDUCER, AND CORAL HEAVEN WHICH ALSO ROCKS.

IPSF is a good company. ordered the mix a match and was very pleased. The pod kit was well worth the money if you have a refugium. Also the Strombus Grazers will reproduce like crazy. Very small snails but they clean the glass pretty good. Overall I think it is well worth the money.
