Default Incredible Shrinking Anenome?

I've had this anenome for about 6 months. It was beautiful when I got it. I can't remember the species but it was about 6-7" in diameter it is a short tenticle plate type. It moved around a couple times and settled into a pretty deep hole in a piece of live rock. My water quality is good. My mushrooms are growing and my polyp frags are reproducing( see pics). Anyone have any ideas? Its staying about 2" in diameter now. My curlyQ anenome seems to be doing just fine. I've tried not feeding him , feeding him, moving him. My clowns love him. It was butiful when I got it I hope it will come back. I'm welcome to any suggestions.

what lighting do u have. if the anemone doesn't have adequate light it will shrink until there is nothing left.

I've also moved the rock it is on out of the light to see if it will move out of that hole. It's probably in that hole about 3".

65 watts of PC over a 30 gallon=2.16 watts per gallon. Not enough light for an anemone IMO.

I agree. That coupled with the clowns "loving" it, (irritating it as it is not happy already) is not good....

Yeah I agree. DOuble the light or get a 150w halide. That should do it.

Hello there 3reef . I am curently having the same problem with my Bubble tip anemone. She was about 6" diameter when i got it. Now its about 3" diameter.I have 4-65w pc's . Like nanotrey mentioned , she also has been moving around. And now has settled at the bottom of the tank. If its to low, she should move up. I dont know what else it could be?

you probably dont have enough light either. you might try switching your dual actinics to 50/50. but you probably need even more than that. if i remember correctly that tank is very deep. how close to the lights was the anemone. i have never seen an anemone do well under pc lighting but i am sure somebody will have a fit about me saying that.
