| I'm sad! Does anyone know the average life span of a serpent star? I have had my starfish for about 7 years. Suddenly he has disappeared. Never has he been out of sight for more than about a 1-1/2 days. I have not seen him in 6 days now.

| I don't have an answer for you, but do have a question. I've a serpent star and he ALWAYS stays hidden under rock and then comes out at night...Is mine 'weird' then if ya'll's came out to where you could see him frequently???

| Well he should reapear ' who knows although 7 years is a long time
although im not sure how long they last in the wild'.
If i were to bet on that though probly in the wild they dont last long ya know ' they have lots of preditors ( octipuss will eat them big time ) and im sure squid do as well among lots of other fish, so 7 years for yours may be a very long life span
and wcw' they love to hide its a "defence" mechinism for them im sure' only coming out in the dark so as not to be seen by somthing that might eat it ( in the wild of course ) got one my self and he hides under ruble/rock as well
if ya think about it most fish , inverts , and the like probly don't last all that long in the wild ' you have all those "big preditors that love to eat things , if i were to give it a guess' i'd say most dont last to even breed' and then after that maybe 2/3 years at best ?
so my conclusion would be your staer fish was a " grand daddy star fish " lol , please parden the "pun"
i love my fish to death to .

| He did like to be in the rock, but I had been hand feeding him since day one. I am not going to give up hope just yet. He has been living with most of these same tank mates for a very long time. |

| I will sometimes go weeks without seeing my Sea Stars! Try to entice it with larger pieces of proteinaceous food like clam, or silversides! _________ 125gal.w/Mag9.5 return(dual megaflow)>Mag7 pump Aqua Cev180skimmer.Wave2k Hamilton Reefstar(2)250watthqi(mh)pend.a Yellow, Naso Tang Red Lip Blenny Percula Clown Demoiselles Niger Trigger F.
