| Horseshoe crab missing tail... This morning I woke up and saw my HS crab on his back still kickin'. I turned him over and he started going around the tank (not w/ his usual spunk), then went to the corner and just sat (didn't bury himself as usual). then I noticed his tail was missing? I saw the angel pickin him up, actually pickin him up off the sand a few inches w/ his mouth, but I don't think he has the jaws to break off the HS's tail. Only one fish could be the culprit....DogFace!
Which is weird cause he pays no attention to anything except my fingers and his silversides. Maybe I'll find out more when i find the rest of the tail? _________ 75gal hex, 2-40w T12 48", odyssea 48" 4x65w PC's w/ lunars, 50lbs LR, 80lbs LS, gold banded maroon clown, dog faced puffer, juvenile blue angel, 2 dominoes, 1-4 stripe damsel, yellow watchman gobie, lawnmower blenny, mano, purple chromis, striped grouper, mexican turbo, astrea and red foot snails, striped, red and blue legged hermit crabs, coral banded shrimp, white and purple bubble coral(very little), red and green mushrooms, orange gorgonian, candycane Tanks, No Thanks. | I noticed alot more damage and here's some pics.
Look at the edges of the crab do you think tha angel's capable of this? I don't know if I should take the crab out or let the angel and/or puffer eat him. Is that cruel? |

| Ahhh let them have a slap up meal , he is part of the food chain, chances are he may die anyway, not to be cruel but this is a natural thing in the wild, but whatever is eating him they must have a good set of gnashers on em, or you could put him in a refugium if you have one. _________ Hardware-55G Rena Md,Filstar XP3 Filter, 200w Heater, 1xSeio 2, 1xKoralia 2, Lee's Medium Skimmer, 8x39watt T5 Fish-Yellow Tang, Coral Beauty, Midas Blenny, Clown, Chalk Goby Inverts-Snails, Hermits, Black Long Spine Sea Urchin, Blue Linika StarFish, Cleaner Shrimp, Coral Banded Shrimp, Feather Duster, Green Bubble Tip Anemone, Coral's-Green/Purple/Hairy Mushroom's, Xenia, Button, Green, Yellow Polyps, Toadstool Leather,Finger Leather, Purple tip Frogspawn. |

| I'd definitely blame the puffer. Angel fish is probably just taking advantage of the situation and trying to snatch a free meal. |
