Hermit question

I beleive that what I have are 4 mexican red leg. They have a red srtipe on their claws and legs and a big claw and a small one. Do these eat coralline algae?

IMO no. From what i know and have read about hermits, including mexican red leg hermits they do not eat coralline algae. But then again thats JMO. Maybe someone here got some crazy hermits that do.

I don't think they do as most, if not all, eat algae and uneaten foods. Besides even if they do, if you have alot of corraline algae in your tank, 4 small hermits won't eliminte your corraline algae, especially under the right conditions, it grows and spreads fast. I have a black long spine urchin that is eating alittle of my corraline algae, but it also is taking care of microalgae more so, in my tank. Just keep your eye open, besides, they are pretty easy to remove from a tank.
