Default Few rbta questions

I want to get a red bubble tip anenome for my 90, wondering everyones opinion on how long to wait for one and ive read running carbon alot isnt a good idea with bta's....any truth to that? Also how about flow and lites? My 90 has 2 tunze nanostream 6045's 1 6025 and the return putting about 425 gph out. I also plan on getting a nanostream 6055 a setting it to pulse mode for variation in current. I have a tek t5 8 bulb 54watt setup for lites. Im thinking ill be good to go in 6mths?

So no huh? He said a clam would be ok in 6 mths if tank is stable also

I had a rose tip in my 12 gallon nano at 6 months... Needless to say it didn't make it... I was very new and had issues with heat and salinity that I was too stupid too realize was a problem.... Anything is possible, but I don't have the money to waste so I would waite for at least a year if I ever got one again... Plus I had alot less water volume than you.... LOL.....

6 months for a RBTA, 12 for a clam is kind of my personal rule, then again I've tossed a RBTA in a tank at 3 months and it's still looking great, each one is different, some die in perfect conditions, others thrive in sub-standard

lighting is the biggest deal though, have your rock stacked high enough it can climb to where it wants to be as far as height in the tank. also in a 90 you should be ok on that lighting array, just make sure it can climb to 75% of the way up the tank if it wants

yeah on the left hand side i have a large arch that can get as close to as about 6-8inches from the lite. I plan on adding more rock on the right hand side that maybe even higher than the left. I think im gonna try the anenome around 6-7 mths. I figured i have enuf light, ive been told my my lfs that fixture could maintain some sps around the mid to high parts of the tank.

what lights do you have anyway?

nvm re-read the original post, your fine the clam might worry me some on the bottom but the tek lites work great so I wouldnt stress it to much, one thing I'd suggest though is about 2 weeks before you do the clam is replace all your bulbs, my 6x39 tek system I'm on a 1yr replacement cycle and it's working well for me

I have quite afew GBTAS and 1 RBTA I find they are really pretty tolerant of most tank parameters.
You seem to have enough flow and lighting. I would say 6 months is long enough but if you want to wait a little longer that could only be better. Try to buy one that split from some ones tank they are generally cheaper and most likely healthy.
