|  Do amphipods molt?
do amphipods molt, similar to shrimp?
I've been seeing, what looks like tiny shrimp exo-skeletons floating around my tank.
and i just discovered hundreds of amphipods living inside my canister filter, when i cleaned it out yesterday. some as big as 1/2" _________ 75gal hex, 2-40w T12 48", odyssea 48" 4x65w PC's w/ lunars, 50lbs LR, 80lbs LS, gold banded maroon clown, dog faced puffer, juvenile blue angel, 2 dominoes, 1-4 stripe damsel, yellow watchman gobie, lawnmower blenny, mano, purple chromis, striped grouper, mexican turbo, astrea and red foot snails, striped, red and blue legged hermit crabs, coral banded shrimp, white and purple bubble coral(very little), red and green mushrooms, orange gorgonian, candycane  Tanks, No Thanks. i wpuld have to say yes. they have exoskeletons, and they do grow...

What you are seeing more then likely are dead ones that took a ride through the return pump on your canister filter. _________ Got Questions? Need Answers?

i see their empty shells drifting in the current sometimes so i'd say yes

I've been looking hard and often and i can't find a single live one inside my tank. do they prefer the filters? | |

I have seen them both alive in the tank ( you have to look at night with a flashlight check the back glass) and alive in the sump (also at night with flashlight) and I also have seen what looks like drifting empty shells in the tank.

i find them alive in my filter sock everytime i change it. I also see the exoskeletons floating around from time to time as u do. | |
