| Decided to try a anemone I was at the LFS and saw that they had a bunch of good looking anemones so I picked one up. I have read into them a little. Anyone have some pointers that they could offer. For you guys with them what have you had best luck with feeding them?

| Anemone's as a whole are pretty demanding! They require moderate to intense lighting, a good water flow and ideal water parameters. They tend to move around alot and if you have corals, bad things can happen with regards to being stung or stinging corals etc.
As far as feeding is concerned, I feed mine chopped up clam or squid and Mysis shrimp, once a week or so.
One thing I almost forgot to mention with regards to their moving around, becareful of placement of powerheads and filter intake tubing as they will get sucked up if they move close enough to them, leading to a mess, and more than likely their demise! _________ 125gal.w/Mag9.5 return(dual megaflow)>Mag7 pump Aqua Cev180skimmer.Wave2k Hamilton Reefstar(2)250watthqi(mh)pend.a Yellow, Naso Tang Red Lip Blenny Percula Clown Demoiselles Niger Trigger F. | Condylactus Anemone are easy to keep. Kinda like atapsia Minimal lighting and light feeding. I went 3 months without feeding one, It's still alive and kicking.
Don't expect a clown to host in one though, IMO they don't like them
As long as you like it and your fish are smart enough to stay away, everyone is happy!!
Enjoy
Jim

| Urban_s,
As with so many things, it depends. You probably have a Condylactis passiflora, the Florida Pink-tipped anemone. They're the most common in Local Fish Stores and Diver is right -- Clowns usually won't host in this Atlantic anemone. However, you may have a Condylactis gigantea (I think they're hard to tell apart), and Clark Clownfish will sometimes host in C. gigantea. _________ -- SAW39 45 gal modified hex. | I got a new anemone two weeks ago, which is probably in the Condylactus genus. My clownfish started hosting in it after 4 days. I have pretty strong lights and I feed the anemone a little bit (less than the size of a pencil eraser) of frozen coctail shrimp every 5-7 days. |
