| Coral Banded Shrimp / Arrow Crab - Killers? Ok, I just made the mistake of trusting my LFS. *I just picked up a CBS and an arrow crab. *The lfs said they were reef safe, but now I'm hearing that they are real killers of hermit crabs, other shrimp, snails, and even some fish.
Anyone have any experience with these guys? *Are they as bad as I hear? *
I'm ready to stick them in jail (sump). * _________ 180g acrylic, 110g sump, asm g2 skimmer, 1/3hp arctica titanium chiller, kent marine ro/di 4-stage hi-s |

| Re: Coral Banded Shrimp / Arrow Crab - Killers? As with other crustaceans, they are "reef safe" when small. As they get larger, and they do get larger, they use their clwas to feed themselves. This includes carion and live foods. The sump sounds like a fine place for them. _________ Just tryin to recreate God's perfection in a glass bowl. 20 Gallon Reef W/Live Rock, mated pair of Maroon Clowns, Softies, 110 watts PC 10,000k lighting, and skimmer. http://www.3reef.com/uploads/1craig400.jpg |

| Re: Coral Banded Shrimp / Arrow Crab - Killers? 100% agree with craig, but I have a GCBS in my tank. He has caused no problems as of yet. _________ http://www.3reef.com/uploads/reefmanMC.jpg&&Right now I'm in the middle of a conversion from reef to Discus/ planted aquarium. Hair algae beat me down. Maybe a nano in the future. Everything screwed up so I'm converting to FOWLR. Wish me luck. |

| | Guest | Re: Coral Banded Shrimp / Arrow Crab - Killers? I just discovered my perfectly healthy Arrowcrab had been killed by my coral banded shrimp in my 125 gallon tank! I knew they were enemies , but thought they would be all rigght in the large tank. I thought wrong!I'm surprised the shrimp killed the crab-thought it would be the other way around. | |

| Re: Coral Banded Shrimp / Arrow Crab - Killers? Both are killers in they're own right, ths CBS mostly though. Arrow crabs can be useful at getting rid of some things, but at the exspense of your tube worms and other little things.
