Default Bubble Tip Anemone(BTA)

The BTA you see in the pic to the left is one that I got last Wednesday. He was doing great in my tank, as you can see in the pics, taken the day after it arrived. Now it shrinks, at least once a day. It does reinflate, but not to the size of the first two days. I had to show the anemone how to feed it. I'm not sure if it does eat or if the Clownfish is taking the food away from it. I never see it close around the food. Does it need ZooPlex or Iodine? Or just (again) chunks of meat?? I have a Flower Anemone who found a rock he likes near a powerhead and is quite happy with the once a week piece of king crab, mysis shrimp or table shrimp. He reacts swiftly when I touch it with food. The BTA never has. It's really doing great!

If the anenome is hosting the clown....the clown will feed it what it needs. I never fed mine for 3 years...then I started to and wish I never had.

It quadrupled in size (or more)...and now is a monster taking over a whole corner of my tank. Am now afraid not to! ("feed me Seymore", uhh, "Omar")

I have this marineandreef.com/ Current USA Satellite Aquarium Compact Fluorescent Lighting (Current Satellite Aquarium Lighting) for lighting. Plus, 2 18"-15watt 10,000KI think) bulbs. They are pretty yellow, so I don't use them much. I'm also fighting Algae AGAIN. This is not hair algae but a smooth carpet of it. Any ideas? Lights out 8pm lights on 8am, on timer with fans next to skimming acorss the water(heat disbursment). I feed once a day and not too much, what they can eat in like 2-3 minutes, then they get a little from when I feed the tube coral. I use RO/DI for tops offs and for water changes. Don't have a tds, so I couldn't tell you what it is. I installed the RO/DI in June(early june) and have backwashed it one tie since install. I do about 1-1.5 gal of top offs every other day. I do water changes once a week. I do about a good ten gallon bucket full.(55 gal tank with aobut 50# live rock) I run at 1.24-25S.G., 8.0-2 pH, 0-nitrates, 0-nitrites, 0-ammonia, Lots of smelly dark green gook comming out of the p.s., what else can I think of... When I get up in the morning the tank is on usually for 30 min before I do anything to it. Then I feed the fish, and do a head count. I get my coffee......I sometimes put purple up in at about 4pm. I add calcium almost every day. 11ml of it. I know I need a lot more test kits than what I'm using and that's next on the wish list. Uggh I just feel like this tank should look beautiful by now. I can't even get Coralline to grow!
