Default BTA split...why...and now what?

When we decided to remove the damsels we had to remove all the rock, it was during this that out bta freaked, he was connected to two peices so moving it was a pain, I though we did it without too much damage but for a few days after he was acting weird and stretching really long, almost from top to bottom of the tank, and he didn't look circular, after a few days of this he started splitting, one day he would be almost split compeletly, the next day like he never even started. After a few days of this we had given up, we were about to pull it when I noticed a perfectly healthy and HUGE bta in the back, so through our powerful deductive reasoning we found he had split. SOOO now we have a polygamist clown fish, a tweaked anemone up front, and the healthiest looking specimen cramped in a cave in the far back.

I was wondering if I should pull the sick one, and if so, do what with it? Iodine bath? Amazingly it did eat some shrimp a few days ago, but its not looking better, just worst, there is slime by its foot and it is holding on by two tiny peices.

Almost forgot the pics...

Here he is, best he has looked all day

and the healthy offspring.

Congratulations Cody! Sign of a healthy anemone in my HO. Now you have two! I would leave both alone and let nature take it's course, let them be.

I would refrain from feeding the anemone in question to let it focus its energy on possibly healing itself. If you feed it it takes up energy to digest etc., so I would hold off for a week or so. See what happens!

Im gona agree with both It will move on its own when its happy and wants to get a tank and as for food, i would wait about a week because the little critter is gona need some need energy to heal after the split and even though food does give energy it takes alot to digest it

Congrats! where are the cigars?!

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!
Well the injured one dissapeared, I found him this morning under the live rock shriviled so I decided to get him out, well after I had him in my hand I found out he was pretty decomposed the closer I got him to the top the more he fell apart, it was like trying to hold on to a raw egg yolk. I got it out and could instantly smell itas it peirced my nose, I ran to the bathroom thinking I was dipping some water, I wish I was right, I actually dripped peices of anemone on my persian rug, a basket of clean clothes, bathroom rug, and in my lunch....rancid peices at that. Thankfully I had some water made and I started a water change, sucking out peices of anemone floating through the water as fast as I could...it reeked and still does....I hope this smell comes off my hand

From now on I will ALWAYS have water made in case this crap happens. I'm also going to setup a 10 gallon quarintine/injury tank for this case...that was HELL!

Is there anything else I should do to clean that crap out?

Sorry to hear that Codemeister. I lost a frilly mushroom Friday, it dispersed. If you have a healthy ecosystem, just let it be eaten by hermits and the likes, they just like rotten meat! yum!
