brain slug? We found in our 45 gallon aquarium what appear to be slugs but we have no idea where they came from. They're dark red/brownish, and look like a brain. There are three of them, and they seem to have laid eggs... which look like they're in strings. A string of eggs for some reason goes in a spiral. Anybody have an idea what in tarnation these might be? If not I'll try and get some pictures up but I don't have a digital camera.

If it's a slug and not snail, your best bet is perusing through the sea slug forum because there are tons and TONS of nudibranch species out there.

I asked a prof here and he said it's a nudibranch. Unfortunately, I went on a week vacation and my coworkers didn't look after them and they were eaten! Maybe more will magically appear, that'd be nice. None of those pictures really looked like them; they had what looked like basically anemone tentacles, there were plenty of them too. When stressed or surprised the tentacle things on their backs would curl up towards the body. Still no idea what they were.

Oh well, but it might have been for the best. Some nudibranch have a tast for zoas and other soft corals.
