    hi all
have just started a marine fish only tank, bought the tank second hand and it had alot of live rock already in.
noticed there was quite alot of bristle worm,so we bought the arrow crab to cut down on them.
the crab didnt realy move about much, have only had him in the tank two days, was fine couple hour ago, looked later that night and he was dead and a bristle worm looked to be feeding on him, could the worm have killed our crab, and if so is it worth getting another one.
    thanks

The bristle wouldn't kill the arrow crab. It's just being a scavenger and cleaning up. What kind of fish do you have?

    Hi Reefman
Ive put some info in my sig so i dont have to tell you all that again,we are new to keeping marine, and now realize we have to wait about 4 to 6 week before we can do much.
As i said we used the original water, only had to relace a bit through spilage.
Think we might have a problem with the undergroung filter and gravel,i intend getting rid of the undergravel filter.
But i didnt want to get rid of all the goodness that would be in the gravel so only gave it a quick rinse, but now weve realized there might be a lot of waist in it as his filter wasnt hardly working, sure its think with muck.
Anyway sorry its so long, heres my first test results anyway, thanks again

Your salinity/specific gravity is way too low for invertebrartes. Yoou need it close to natural seawater, 10.26 or 35ppt at about 80 degrees. I bet your arrow crab could not handle the hyposalinity. Gradually move the salinity up over the next week every other day.

I think Craig had a typo on the 10.26 thing. He meant 1.026.

LOL Either that or it's a land crab that likes crawling through raw salt :)
