Default Anyone heard of a purple tile starfish?

Has anyone on here ever heard of a purple tile starfish? I'm trying to get some more info on them. I know they go by some other names but this was the one that stuck in my head...

Definitely not a linckia. I've got a blue one and two orange ones and they look nothing alike.

I'll see if I can't come up with a picture.

yeah its a fromia but i never heard of a purple one.i hear there safe and then not safe.it depends on who you ask.i figure tank size has a bit to do with it.i don't trust any star that gets bigger than 3 inches as a personal rule.

yea it's a fromia. Let's hope it's reef safe because it's currently hanging off the bottom of my green plate coral...

Anyone know why these types of stars would be considered not reef safe?

some people don't see them as reef safe cause they eat some types of sponge, they also move over and through your corals while searching for food which is mainly waste and micro organisms found in your live rock so it will be all aver your rocks and will starve if you don't have enough rock.their hardier than most reef safe stars but still hit and miss.
