| Anemone ??? recent order from LiveAquaria.com I re-stocked my aquarium last week. Read Bio in SAY HELLO for more details..
It is always a best practice to examine an anemone before purchasing, which I am aware of, however when buying from Dr. Foster & Smith's LiveAquaria.com you don't know what you'll end up receiving.
Everything checked out fine and I acclimated all of my new friends by using the drip method over an hour.
The Anemone looked great at first but has been moving around alot, which once again I know that they do.
Question is:
If an anemone shrinks and regains size again and again and again spitting out brown ooz (ZOO I am presuming) and now has a loose mouth.
Could this mean it is the beginning of the end for my anemone?
Has anyone ever had this and the anemone regain vitals and thrive??? |

| are the lights currently off? I think they expel the water from their old habitat and fill themselves with water from their new habitat, like a way of self-acclimating. When i got my Anemone, it did that right when the lights turned off of first day of ownership |

| | 3reef Moderator | Yes it is a sign of a dieing anemone but it can also be just from the stress of moving. I wouldn't give up on it yet, but keep a close eye on it

| Tank Age / Anemone condition My tank was established November 11th, 2002
It did crash during that winter due to an ICE STORM that left us without power for 5 days.
It has been up ever since. The tank levels are:
Specific Gravity: 1.026
Amonia : 0
Nitrite : 0
Nitrate : less than 40 ppm
PH : 8.2
So, I can check it any day and it stays the same.
All of the zoanthids stay open, Toadstool Mushtroom that I just introduced is open almost all the way the flowering tips haven't yet expanded, my bubble coral is doing good.
The Anemone started looking really good an hour ago, so I fed it a very small piece of freeze dried krill.
Here is a pic of it right now at 9:30 p.m. |

| Anemones are disceiving they could take 6-8 months to die. the stress of the shipment could have put it into a tissy. call the seller, their customer service is good. |

| I have had three anemone in my reef keeping experience
A brown BTA
And Sebea
Both lost....
I have never really heard how long an BTA can last in the reef aquarium. |
