| Plankton | I will keep that in mind for when I finally pull the trigger. I am trying to manage my fresh water fish the way it should be before I try the expensive salt water fish. My PH over +8 and the nitrates were off the scale. I had to take out the undergravel filter and clean up the tank good. Hoping to get to the place I can keep the PH down so I can get neon tetras. _________ Freshwater tank only |

| Astrea Snail | I hear ya. I got a 55 gal freshwater with 2 kissing fish a bunch of neon tetras and some other misc schooling fish. Honestly I just let that tank do it's thing. I didn't do any water changes for over a year and they were fine. Once I started saltwater I quickly cHanged habbits. I just planted like 10 plant bulbs and the tank looks great now. It's a big jump to salt, wish I would have reaserched more! Not that I have lost any fish I would have just cycled it different to reduce diatoms and and should have cured my rock tonget rid of those pesky bristle worms! Good luck when you take the plunge lol |
