    The white thing? If so it is a type of anemone. It could be Aiptasia or Majano.

    Aiptasia anemone, IMO. It's a type of animal.

    They can become a nuisance, yes. Sometimes a peppermint shrimp will best them.

    +1. Def can become a nuisance! Peppermint shrimp can be hit or miss. Some folks mix up some kalk paste and zap them. There are other fancier gadgets out there as well, but they can get expensive.
