star type?

    What type of star is this? How readily do they reproduce. Its about the size of a pencil eraser.

    I don't mind them. In fact, they are probably beneficial as a cleaner. I would like more, hence my reproduction question.

    They will split off legs to reproduce and do so readily. Getting a harlequin shrimp for one asterina would quickly be the death of the shrimp from starvation.

    lol sushigirl, were you seen one there are many more! But I agree I dont think anything less that a 100g will keep a big enough astrena population.

    Is they why some of the legs are longer than the others?

    Yes, that's why.
    Ingtar, you're correct. There will be more, but not a large enough population to feed a harlequin for very long.
