Question sponge has clear pods?

what are the little clear pods gowing on this sponge? I just noticed them.
Anyone have a clue.

Those, infact are not pods at all, but are the osculum which are the excretive structure of porifera or sponges! The size of the osculum is determined by the sponges myocyte to either allow more or less water to leave the sponge. Water exits the sponge through its osculum removing waste. The water is drawn into the sponge via its spongocoel!

ok reefer...Thank you very much.
I just moved it back to a shady area...I think it was doing better there..It seemed to be
"excreting" excessivly, not as fat as it was when it was in the back side of the tank. So I am assuming that too much light is not good and may dry them out...or is it another reason?
Thanx again.

Sponges are filter feeders so the placement in a location where they receive a moderate flow of water is essential to carry food and nutrients to them and rid waste at the same time keeping detritus and algae from accumulating on them reducing water flow into their spongocoel, possibly leading to death.
Lighting isn't very crucial for sponges, but water flow and reduction of air bubbles and contact with ambient environment is crucial to their success!
