prolly a blenny if it's from down here. they were e-where. you can tell from the mouth, if it has a small downward facing, almost lip type mouth, it's prolly a blenny. if it has a large, sometimes open, jaw type mouth it's prolly a gobie. best i can describe, i'm no expert.

We have an invasive goby species I was trying to catch here for a bit (the Round Goby), but I couldn't get one. I'm gonna try another type of trap when it gets closer to the summer.

That is pretty cool, deffo a blenny but an algae or LM blenny - im not to sure

i find this extreemly hard to believe about the sw converting to fw in the time it would take the water to desalinize from beeing dumped into the lake

i could possibly believe it if the lake or rivers leading to it were remotly brackish but they arent

there are fish in our greatlakes that look like an over grown skooter blenny but they are known as mud daubers and actualy a nuicence non native fish that someone introduced

I caught mine w/ a net, but they were very hard to catch. I actually was swooping for a bigger one and didn't even know i caught him until half way back to shore, don't know how he stayed in the net. I've been looking into slurp guns supposedly they're much more effective and much less stressful on the fish. A descent one runs about $50.

That is a HorseFace Blenny ( Ophioblennius atlanticus ) common to Florida and the carribean.

I don't think so. horse face aka red lip has a very distinct shaped face (very blunt nose w/4 small branching horns) plus the red lips. also different coloring (red lip almost always has a bit of yellow). this one has none of the above. unless some sort of cross-breed.

anyone know the legalities of catching things in the wild, mainly coral? my buddy is going diving this weekend
