I'm pretty sure this is a gorilla crab, but I thought I'd get a consensus before we have krabby patties for dinner tonight. It's taken me months to catch this evasive little guy.

Probably not a gorilla, but it looks just as unfriendly.

Yeah the pointy little claws make him look like he eats fleshy things.

I've seen a thread on this forum before about an emerald crab's carapace turning white. Does anyone think that this could be one of my long-lost emerald crabs that I put in the tank a year ago and never saw since?

Its claws are flat at the end like a mithrax crab. I would be tempted to say its a friendlyish crab based on that. But i couldnt be certain.

edit - it looks very suspiciously like a mothrax crab just not the usual colour..... hmmm tricky one that.

Sump or fuge if you don't want Krabby patties.

Well, the pincers are concave or in a spoon shape, which I've learned by reading other hitchhiker crab threads is a rock scraper and it eats algae. So I would say, despite its bad looks, he's a friendly one.

Mind you, almost ANY crab can turn into corals at any point. I would leave it in the tank, unless you feel safer with him in the sump/fuge.
