    It's a macroalgae whose name always escapes me.

    It looks like Noemeris sp. A type of calicerous macro. Kinda neat looking imo.

    *edit* calcareous even...had to look up the spelling on that one

    It's harmless. It rarely survives but it's kind of neat if it does.

    Thanks everyone sooo much for taking the time to answer.... just had never seen this before. Today I might get my sailfin tang... we shall see but after 6 months of cycling I think I can add some more fish without a problem...
