hey guys what does it mean when a feather duster lets off a long trails of guu

I don't think those are FD's. They are a type of worm. If you look closely after feeding or, stirring up sandbed they will let the slime go out to catch food. You can actually watch them slowly pull the slime back in to eat. I had a big one in my tank that I glued shut. It would disturb my p. xenia and surrounding corals with the slime. I can't remember the name of them though.

definitely some kind of worm, not a problem unless they bug your corals though

yea it is a worm that looks like a fd my clown fish ran into the trail and it whent across the tank so i scooped it out

they arent too bad, but after awhile when they reprouduce...... you see where im going......

I have tried using underwater clay to cover them too, but it found a way out.

I have let the issue go and they are everywhere now!!!

If you want to kill them do it the old fashioned way. Remove the rock, or whatever it is they are attached to, they will retract, but you will see a hard tube looking think around the rock. Chisel it, pry it with plyers, whatever works for you. Don't allow this stuff to go into the tank. Then, rinse the rock off in water (from the tank but in a bucket outside the tank), to remove anything you might have left. Place it back in the tank, monitor and repeat. Best to do this before you get corals, because moving things in the tank is hard after that point.
