Crab ID

    Need an ID. Showed up last night in my Vortech. Couldn't snap a shot until now. Looks like a trapezia to me...but wanted others input. Never seen him on a coral colony. I have 2 others in colonies, and they look similar, but coloration is different.

    I think I agree with you; it's certainly tiny.

    Is that the crab or it's molt? I'm thinking molt.

    No...it's the crab. It is about the size of my little finger nail. Feisty little sob too.

    EDIT: Also noticing now that he is missing 2 legs and a claw on his right side. The Vortech did a number on him. Now that I can get a closer look, I am thinking it is not a Trapezia. His body is much thicker than the streamlined flat bodies I have seen with Acro Crabs.

    I thought he was dead in the second shot. He's neat looking whatever he is.
