|  stand
ok so i have started the stand for the 135 but have run into some logistical issues,
has anyone diy ed a 135 gallon tank stand? for any thank that is 6 feet long???
if so can you please say how you did it? and the demensions. i want 3 doors, two to open up for the sump, and the other for shelving space. |

Make sure there is at least enough room for you between 2 of the doors to get your sump in and out if you need to (say you accidentally crack the glass...). Use 2x4s or 2x6s for the frame. Make it sturdy. Leave room for the over flows if they are coming out of the bottom. _________  | |

there coming from the top, and i think if i can i am going to have the supports between the doors, and make them removable so if something like that does happen i will be able to. | |

If you would run a 2x6 long ways on it's end like a floor joist runs you will have stability and not need a lot of supports across the front. _________ Scott 265g (Peninsula)

You can brace the middle front with 2 braces near each end, and leave 4 ft in the middle for a 4 ft sump (smaller if you have 30 gal sump). By using triangle supports between the posts and the top, it will strengthen it more.
And definitely run them on end like a floor joist, as Otty said. I figured that would be obvious, and they will support 10X more weight that way, than laid out flat. | |

yeah, i am planning on this there will be 3 doors, the far left door will be for selving (SP?) and the middle and right door will but like one big hole thing, but with 2 seperate doors, for my 55 gallon sump, the stand will be 36" tall, i will give 6 inchs up top for support and 30" of clear space for the sump and skimmer height, | |

55 stand.
you can check out my stand I just posted up.. I put it on casters as well that way I can wheel it around to different angles so I can view it easier from different couches/chairs/different rooms. Of course I have tile/hardwood throughout the house. Oh and three big doors. | |
