| sealant for acrylic? What brand/ model of sealant would you recommend for a DIY acrylic sump? Thanks! |

| wow that looks like some serious stuff! Its a small sump, only 7 gallons, so is there any sealant I could buy from the LHS (Home Depot)? |

| ips weld-on 16 is thick, the 3 and 4 are like water. i suggest the 16. home depot and menards wont know what your talking about. google an acrylic supply store near you to find it. i just bought 2 gallons of 16 @ 50 each, online will run about 100 each.

| Weld on 16 is the way to go.

But a glass tank.. It takes some special tools to make anything from acrylic that I'd trust to hold water. By time you buy the acrylic and the other materials and clamps and have a good Jig and proper sanding material you maybe be better off buying a tank for 20.00 bucks or so.. I work with acrylic daily and A few here have seen my work but it still nerves me with proper everything sometimes about a seam failure LOL I'm not trying to disway you from trying Just offering a heads up. | Even though I built my own sump (regular tanks to big) I agree with tangster. I have built many things out of acrylic not just tanks and it isn't as easy as some people make it out to be.
But if your still wanting to do DIY then weld on 16 can be purchased on line at Rideout Plastics

| Maybe a 5.5 ot 10 gal. tank will fit if so Thats how I'd go .. Space permitting or try to find a small rubbermaid bucket or tub type thing ? |
