 |  Real Quick Plumbing Question
If this is a dumb question please forgive me but i want to be safe.
I've done pvc plumbing b4 on a tank, but only when it was not yet set up. Im in the process as I type of plumbing in my new sump (10g) for my 30g display tank.
The question is:
Do i have to wait a certain time after the pvc cement dries to run the sump, pump, etc to avoid nasty fumes getting into the water and killing my livestock?
Or once it is all dried and plumbed can i fire it up?

I've fired mine up quickly after building. When water hits un-cured glue it cures it instantly. It will just end up in your tank in little chunks. Wait as long as you can though. Keep us updated on the progress/finished product. | |

Thanks Guys! | I all depend on if you have any fish or life in the tank, but anyway Ill would wait a day or so run water through it first and if you don't use much of it
that cut the time of curing I won't recommend using it right away, if the pump is in a sump you shouldn't have to glue it at the base of the outlet

Same here, as mission said. I started mine up pretty quickly after I put the pipe together... About a half hour...

Thanks guys!
I do Have Life and Livestock in the tank. The Glue will be cured when i finish it of course. Just curious as if i needed to wait a day to let it "gas-off" or sumthing.
I will wait a bit b4 firing it up to be safe, not done yet.

Ill see if i can post sum pix when im done or so.

sorry to bring this post back but i just started a new 65gallon tank with 66 lbs of tonga show rock and and i had problems with my plumbing so i had to re-glue the pvc but i ran the pump right after and i put a couple of chromis in to help cycle, but they looked like they were dying so i quickly threw them in my 20g tank there doing great now...what or how long or should i change the water because i think the glue is killing them when i put them in...the tank has only been running for 3 days now...so let me know please asap!!!

That's exactly what I'm freaking out about. My friend told me to look for marine safe 100% silicone. The silicone I bought had a lot of additives that didn't sound like they were 'fish friendly'. I gotta find some silicone now. | |
