I have made a few led moon lights. one was done with resitors on a variable power converter. it went from 1.5v to 12v. with the resistors it was safe. the 1.5v dropped the mega bright blue leds down to a soft grey. so basically I run them at 12v when I turn the lights off, then drop them to 1.5v when I go to bed.

I made another out of 2 leds and 2 aa batteries with on/off switch.

the latest was 2 leds with a 3v adapter that I found at the 99 cent store for charging gameboys. I leave this on 24/7.

On a side note, I put some leds into some guitar necks I have for "flash" on the fret markers. I have ran 6 leds off a 9v battery with no resistors and no problem this far.
