Default Paint/Sealant for inside of stand and canopy?

I'v been building away on my new stand today! The construction will be done tomorrow, then I will start sealing the inside of it and staining the outside of it.

What should I seal or paint the inside of the stand and canopy with?

I'll post pics tomorrow

Ryan

Oil bassed, or Latex? Can anyone add anything else?

Should I just use the urethane that Im going to use on the outside of the stand on the inside as well?

Im going to use Minwax Helmsman Oil based urethane. Its meant for outside use, and where moiture is present.

Ryan, i have a built a couple stands/canopies and have used Minwax Helmsman inside and out, just be sure to get two full coats using a good brush, Homedepot sells Purdy china bristle brush's for stains and varnishes.

you still can use latex also, many latex paints offer water/moisture protection. I polyurethaned my stand personnally, but basically any paint will offer some protection to the wood

thats why everyone uses latex in a bathroom, moisture barrier... Do Lowes and HD even sell oil based paints anymore? I hear everyone is moving to latex..

I ended up using 2 thick layers of Minwax Helmsman oil based Urethane. It came out very smooth and hard. I have no doubt in my mind that it will protect my stand from moisture and saltwater. I also feel more comfortable with a oil based product since oil naturally repels water, where as latex is water based.
