Default My Hood i built...

i built this hood to house 2 400w metal halides, and left some room on the sides to aff vho or actinic florecents if i decided to add to them..tel me what you think, and also, the hole i cut are for fans i have, there are three, all blowing air up and outa the tank, is that the best way, or should it be in the sides, one blowing and and one out, because i can add thoe and have all of them blowing, prolly overkill but, never can be too safe when it comes to my reef, imo.

specs; * 48 long
* * * * * * * 9 tall
* * * * * * * and angles to be 12 deep
* * * * * * * the top is 6 inches(where the bracket and bulb is riveted to)
painted with black and white high heat stove paint
3 wholes for 1 large and 2 smaller fans

another pic, this one is of the inside where the bracket is mounted to hold the bulb and socket

you think i should put some sort of screen on it??, like glass or acrylic or something, to shield moisture?? if so is it really necasary?, the height it 9inchs so it will sit up high as it is, plus i and going to suspend it from the ceiling..i dunno, tell me what you guys think

That's sweet!
If you are going to suspend it, I wouldn't put glass on it. That will only reduce the light and increase heat inside it.

yea those were the same worries i had, but i was concerned about water splashes( even though the bulbs will be like 9-12 inches above tank) and condensation cracking the bulb...

waht about the fans, they should help alot dont ya think? the one that goes in the middle is HUGE!!, but really quite somehow, but the thing is HUGE!! its circulation is awesome
