So me and a few other members of GIRS have made mods and quite a few other people where asking how to do it. So we decided to have a Mod party. We ordered the caps and props from MJmods and did the rest or it ourselves. One of the guys in the club is a wood worker and made up a jig and knocked off the MJmod style shroud very professionally. Anyway her are some pics.
One of the guys walking the newbies thru the mod

Check out the new fire power!

Check out the sweet ball pivot magnet mount we came up with too.

Great ball mounts Covey, is there a shoping list for them that you can share with us?

I found out that the MJ900 does not like the octura 2035 prop. I ordered the MJmod kit but did not glue the centering cap and the prop keep on running in revese for some reason. Don't know if i can say it was cause i did not glue the center cap or it might be that i did not put the stopper in figuring that the center cap would be enough to change the direction of the spin.

Any who! Covey i would like to do this mod if there is any light you can shead on us with the pivot mount or any tidbits you found when doing this mod that would be great.

Covey sorry I am such a tool I am very thankful for all the information that you have shared with myself and other of 3reef. Karma my friend!

That was one of the other guys idea's but real simple. It's a 1/2" PVC coupling, then plastic hardware from Lowe's. A Nylon ball, screws and nuts. Drill and tap the ball. Put a screw in it. Then drill and tap two holes in the coupling at a right angle to each other. Put the ball in the coupling and tighten the screws. Works good and cost like $2 in parts.

How old is your MJ 900?
Sometime if the your impeller magnet is worn out it has a problem spinning the suggested prop.

You need the stopper or this thing will suck in a fish.

not alot you can do with a fan based powerhead

the MJ mods out there basically turn them into a fan based PH instead of a vaccum based
