Question Float Mod for Remora Prefilter/skimmer box

Bought a Remora (with maxi 1200) and the prefilter box and received it earlier this week.

Twice already I've found the pump running almost dry because of the water level. Thumb screws are just a PITA and I was wondering if anybody has had success developing a mod to make the prefilter skim box float at the water level?

I was considering buying the biggest magnetic aquarium cleaners I could find an gluing the floating ends around the sides, but wasn't sure if it would work.

I'm going to look else where and I'll post if I find anything....

Thanks in advance

Mine chilled out after I automated the replacement of evaporated water. Do you have a lot of evaporation?

Well, I'm in Chicago and we've had the coldest winter on record...so I'm assuming its really dry in the house.

I'm not sure if its a lot, but I am now making daily/every other day top offs to keep up.

I follow garf.org's receipe now, so this shouldn't be a problem, but its just the fact that somethings you just can't prepare for...
