You probably can make the stand hold just about anything, with the right design, the question is can your floor handle the weight.

Just remember, it is important to spread weight over floor. Don't just let stand on four legs unless they have a wide base.

I just had a brainstorm while reading the post! Why not use a Gorilla Rack? It's a heavy duty, up to industrial strength, configurable shelving unit which can also be configured into a shop type work bench. Commonly sold at Home Depot or Lowes home improvement stores. If the "legs" are to tall for what you like or need then you could just cut them down. If you don't like the look of the rack, you can just skin it with 1/8 inch oak sheeting.

_________

110 gallon acrylic with compact flourescent/actinic
55 gallon for sump/fuge
about 40 lbs of live rock (more to come)
ssb in tank, dsb in fuge

This is the stand under my 210g tank. It is welded 1.02 X 1/8 inch square tubing.

Here it is on its first water test.

You can see the build thread here but I am not finished.
