| Corner Overflow....parts? DIY? I have a 45 gallon tank I'd like to make a display tank for a reef system and a 29 gallon I'd like to make into a sump/refugium. I want to drill the tank (LFS drills) and put a corner overflow in. I need to find the plastic/acrylic piece that has the teeth for surface skimming.
Does anyone know where to buy parts or an easy way to make it by hand? |

| is your tank full already?if its empty, just buy a peice of black plastic at homedepo or lowes and cut the teeth with a saw and silicone it in place.you should wait for the plumbing to be in place so you know you've made the acrylic big enough.better yet, they sell them already made.i think its called an overflow kit and their cheap.

| Nope. Nothing is in the tanks right now.
I have a 6 gallon Nano and am putting together my first full size reef system right now. I just want to get it right the first time so I am trying to think it all through.
I am sure I'll miss something though. |

| Your LFS should have the wall for the corner flow or at least know where to get one for you. _________ 9YR OLD 90G/55g custom sump/refug Mag18 Aquac 180skimmer 692w MH AC jr,yel&kole tang, midas&convict blenny,B&G chromies,Blk/yel fin chromie blackcap, nemo, neon goby,6line; Blastomussa Merleti,Acan ,BUBBLE,Torch,LTA, Acropora(2) Moon, assort zoas, yel& G star polyps, P&B ricordia, montiporas, cup&candy corals, xenias,B/G mush, flower ane(2), cherry red mussa, dusters, cleaning crew.. |

| I called the LFS today to get an appointment and the guy I spoke with told me the plan. He doesn't cut into the bottom of the tank. Instead he uses an overflow box and a hole in the back of the tank.
If you imagine the overflow as 3 pieces (front box, u tube, back box) he uses just the box inside the tank and drills the hole through both the box and the glass. So the water overflows into the box and then into the hole fed by gravity.
No worrying about an overflow.
Anyone see any holes (bad pun) in this theory? |
