Default Canopy Question

Getting ready to build a new canopy to fit my new T5s I just ordered. I have seen many wonderful canopy builds on this site. My question is should I building my new canopy using 1x10 or 1x12 wood for the frame? What do most use for their builds?

i usued 1x12 becuse the inch.5 that it will hang over the top of the tank and it just looks nicer that way
