Hi, whomever can help me to diagnose my fish's problem, would be great. I have this goldfish for 2 years now and in the last six months I noticed a growth on his dorsal fin, he seems fine, there is no changes in his behavior. But I can not diagnose it, nor know a vet to take him in. If there is anybody there who can give me an idea of what I can do it will be great. Thanks |

HI, I had one get a lesion like that from a anchor worm, there may be one buried in that mass, We used to take common house hold iodine and remove the fish gently and paint the lesion with iodine and quickly return it to the water , Kills the anchor worm and sterilzes the lesion and the little bit of iodine dosen't seem to bother the fish. Ask a local LPS that carries 200.oo koi what they would do.. Doug never do this near the gills cause iodine burns tissue making less gas permable suffication the fish pretty good info to follow>>>> Buy Fish Medication for Treating Diseases, Including Ick, in Pet Fish. and even better DX you fish before you treat. hey, read this message while getting info on diseases of fish, I had a similar problem with my ruykin goldfish whom is about 6 to 10 inches long and fat, I took him to the vet that specializes in exotic animals like fish and he said it wat a tumor that might have been cancerous or a mass whichever one it was he removed it surgically that same day, it cost about $250 dollars, no more than that, but my fish had it for about a year in which I tried everything, however that was the best treatment for him and he is happy as can be now , he has not gotten it back and he is normal again. I recommend checking with a vet if you are committed to your fish friend. best of luck. BW. |
