| white junk i hear you guys talking about the white crud that you have to scrub off the glass after water changes. i have become used to that now. but its driving me nuts tring to figure out a way to clear up my live rock. every thing in the tank gets coated. any ideas? i just bought a pretty exspensive hunk of rock really red and has alot of growth already. looks like @#$& now covered white.

| Re: white junk That is strange.
Are you dosing anything? How are you adding it?
Are you mixing salt in the tank?
Do you have southdown sand? Did you rinse it? |

| Re: white junk i have a 55 gal. i mix in a 6 gallon bucket checking the gravity thourghly making sure the salt is dissovled compleaty. i tested the ph it was 8.0 yesterday so i buffered it back to normal. ammoina was less than one and no nitrates. i used a white reef sand and thought i rinsed it pretty good. when i first added water to dial in my filters it did it the same. the lfs told me to add some damino damsels since they are pretty hardy. they are very active and are very hungy all the time. so the wild life seems to be ok. |
