Default What is it?

A friend of mine says that his hermit crabs have transluscent tentacles sticking out of their shells and also the snails have the same thing! I think it must be a parasite of sorts! I've never heard of such a thing? He has live rock, etc. and the tank is for the most part in good shape -water-wise. No fish as of yet, though. These creatures don't seem to be affecting his snails or hermit crabs otherwise. They "reach" for food and draw in theit tenticles. Anyone have any ideas? Are they harmful and will they eventually takeover the tank? Thanks, Wayne
