Wave 2K Wavemaker??

The Wave 2K was developed to give the marine hobbyist, for the first time, total water movement. The circulation created from our machine, as in the ocean, cycles between forward water motion (wave in) and the action of that wave going back out. The Wave 2K forces water out of the top of the machine while pulling a similar volume in the bottom, then it reverses that cycle and forces out of the bottom, while pulling water in the top. This reversing action produces the same chaotic movement as you would see snorkeling in the ocean. Imagine pushing out and pulling in 8.8 gallons during each up and down cycle. Now imagine this taking place every 6 seconds, or ten times a minute, or 600 times per hour! Now imagine actually having a small wave across the top surface of your tank, and the joy of watching those flowing type corals actually moving back and forth just as they do in the wild!

Has anyone tried this? It seems really cool....perhaps most realistic water movement I've seen in a wavemaker...

Looks very interesting...the price is decent also...have you looked into oceans motions wavemakers?

They are a little pricey but accomplish much of the same stuff. I would love to see them both in action, the companies should post videos online so we could see what their units actually do!!

I just bought one for my new 55 gallon tank. I haven't assembled it yet but it looks pretty cool. I'll let you know when I get it up and running. The parts look like they were done by hand - I think the company is just getting up and running. It looks awesome though and since its a small company, the service has been great.

Oceanmotions

@dx7fd2 - The oceanmotions is actually more like the SCWD than the Wave2k. THe effect from the wave2k is a little more natural and displacs a heck of a lot of water.

Negatives:
- Wave2k: Box in your tank. Requires a little space behind tank for motor. Used to have problems with belts snapping, but they figured that out.

-Oceanmotions: A lot of plumping and pipes.

Check out the Oceanmotion's prototype thread on this board. I'll put it up now. This thing is nuts. More like the effect from the Tunze Wavebox which is coming out in the fall for $500. You can see vids on that in the Review board.

darnit, I can't seem to get the movie to play for the Wave 2K..gotta fiddle with my Quicktime file.....hmmmmm

I think the wave 2k is supposed to pull off the top while pushing water at the bottom and then do the opposite every 6 seconds...

Sounds like what you feel standing in the water at the beach, you see the wave coming in but feel the water on your feet going out....

I personally love my Wave2K. It does take a little tinkering to get it just right at first but I absolutely love the water motion it creates. It runs pretty close to silently and has 8 slots on top and 8 on the bottom(4 in front and 2 on each side) so the water is moving in all directions and non of it is so direct that it will damage anything.

A read a review where they said it shouldn't be used on a tank bigger than a 75, but I see yours is... interesting. It still puts good flow across the tank?

Trust me I will do it , can't say when though working about 50-60 hours a week between my reg job and the store stuff eats up alot of time. But I will try to get to it soon. Every time I think about it it is after the lights go off or something. Then again with my schedule there are some days I don't even see my tank with the lights on. All of us have been woking like crazy trying to get moved into our new location on top of manning the current store during regular hours, doing maintainance accounts etc....

If you used it as the only form of circulation I could see the 75 gallon limit. But when you use it in combination with your system pump, powerheads or whatnot I say it is hard to beat. Plus I love the fact that there are no dead spots behind the rock work because of the lower slots
