Default Water Movement

So As you are all painfully aware, I'll be tearing my tank down on Saturday for the big move.
Something I've never been really happy with is the flow in my tank. I have 4 MJ 1200 and a mag12 as my return, but there is still areas that get little to no flow. This would be a great time to improve this problem.
So right now I have 2 MJ 1200 on each end of the tank they are all on a wave maker pro the return flows slightly down along the back side of the tank.
My Rock work is part of the problem as it is in a "u" shape from left to right. so this creates a dead space in the lower insides of the "U". I have a mix of SPS and LPS I have tried Tunze 6060 and just can't make it work with the LPS. My poor Bubble was pined to the glass

So if anyone has any improvement Ideas I'd be open to them.

This is an old pic but you get the Idea

Jason

Jason, I have a mag 3 in the back of my rocks hidden with this attached, http://www.modularhose.com/merchant2...ategory_Code=5
it is a circle flow pipe that has little outs on every segment. while it is a little tedious on initial set up I have adjusted mine to flow through my rocks from back to front for some good circulation. it bends and twists and points in any direction you desire, just be prepared for a little trial and error and you will come up with good results. you might want to consider a mag 5 for your size. hope that helps. good luck with the move.

I have a DIY spray bar behind my rock, and two Tunze 7200 flowing OVER the rock, hitting the front glass and the ricochet flow is more than ample to keep the sand clean and the LPS get a softer flow.

Also, I have a SQWD on a Mag 5 at each corner...

Why dont you use a spray bar from the return line from your sump? You can run it across the back of your tank. By the way, Foster and Smith sells that modular circle flow for about $7. You might also want to consider the Seio 620 pumps. I'm happy with mine. They are some what directional have dial in flow control and pump 620gph at 8 watts. I've been very happy with mine considering its made by Rio.

Yeah! That's me! Hubby got me the Tunzes for Christmas!

Looking into a kalk reactor at the moment! Critters are still a little sparse, but that's OK! I am working on it!

Nice to see you again too!

Hi Jason! I have 2 Tunze 6000. I ran them before buying a controller box and I could only run one at a time because everything was blowing around and the box did not allow me to turn it down that much. Once I got the controller in I didn't have any problems with my LPS being blown around too much. I did change the placement of some where there seemed to be a little less flow.

Like Birdlady, I have each one aimed at the middle of the front glass. Seems to work fine.

Good luck with yours! Cindy
