| My LFS had a drill and loaned it to me. They usually charge $30-$50 per hole. With the right drill it's real easy. But that's the cheap part. The overflow boxes and bulkheads start to add up too. |

| Well you have many options. First of all you should make sure the tanks bottom is not tempered. You can have the LFS drill the holes for you (I had my 90 gallon drilled for $70 bucks but some LFS here do it for $10-$15). You have the option of buying a bit and cutting the hole yourself as well. Ive seen the LFS doing the hole and its not difficult, but you do need the right equipment. I actually cut a 1 1/2" diameter hole in 1/2" glass using copper tubing and some grit, so cutting is not too difficult. If your handy maybe you can save some money and do something like me for the overflow. It is basically a pipe with a bowl on the top. however you run the risk of having the whole tank empty out if the pipe breaks.
The 120g is a nice size for sure, and its only $100 bucks. What are the 2 tanks dimensions?
Heres the diy overflow I made with some basic pvc plumbing. _________ 90 gallon tank with center overflows, 44 gallon custom sump/fuge, Tek T5 retrofit 4x54 bulbs, Reef Octopus nw200 protein skimmer, Iwaki WMD40RLXT return pump (changed to panworld 100pxx),Knop c ca reactor, PA light house controller. ^^ Testing it out! Ill add more param.. later. |
