 |  Two Questions
First: What pump do you recommend to use on a closed loop system, for an undrilled 75 gallon tank? 
Second: Can anyone recommend a good external protein skimmer, just don't have enough room to put the whole unit in the sump.
Just trying to get some ideas on how to set up my new tank.

For an undrilled tank I think you would be better off with some good powerheads. For a closed loop all your plumbing would have to come up and over the top of the tank and then back in. Wouldn't be any more attactive then some powerheads in the tank.
For a protein skimmer I have always used the turboflotors and liked them. But I am just about to setup a new 75 gallon fish only tank with a AquaC Remora Pro and mag 3 so we'll see how that goes. Hopefully it works out well. | |

i used a mag 5 with a swcd for my closed loop, which was a very good set up.

My though was just to cut down the number of cords and powerheads to clean/replace.

The Pump would really depend on how you plumbed the tank. How many out puts you want and how much flow you want.
As for skimmers you could look at H&S, Deltec, Bubble king, in my mind those are the 3 top of the line skimmers. But you don't have to get top of the line

I was hoping to have 4 outputs with 250-300gph per output, i have roughly that with the 4 ph's in my current 75g. All of that extra equipment is just to much, I just want to "simplify" my set-up.
I will check out those p. skimmers, I am trying to stay around the $250 mark. I really like my ASM G3 but it is to much for this new set-up, only dealing with a 20g wet/dry. | |

Skimmer choice would also be determined by the amount of room you have to work with. If space is a concern I would recomend a CPR Bakpak. It is slim in design and rated well. _________ 100 & 58 gal reef  | |

Unfortunately all ASM skimmers are in-sump only.
as for your Pump for your closed loop you are looking at 1000GPH with out any head pressure. If you can make it an external pump I would go with a Blueline BL1100
If it has to by submersible I would go with a MAG 12
