| Total and complete screw up! Woke up really early this morning All happy and ready for the day! Thinking I have a little extra time this morning I'll change out the MH bulbs and clean up a bit of the salt creep on the top of the acrylic tank. I carefully removed all the little crap I'd been to lazy to put away last night that was sitting by the top of the tank and started to scrape a bit of the salt into neat small piles I could vacuum up. You know those clear suction cups that come on the back of the seaweed clips....I missed seeing it until it was careening toward the right side overflow. Swooooop down she went. This would not have been a problem if I were an Orangatang but alas I am not. That horrible sinking feeling was just reaching full tilt when you guessed it a back up.
After shutting everything down I calmly grabbed my long handled grabbers and proceeded to jam that baby deeper and deeper into the overflow drain.
That's ok still only 7AM plenty of time I'll just disconnect the bulkhead get the suction cup out and reconnect.
Worked like a charm got the blasted suction cup, cursed it appropriately and rushed to reconnect the bulkhead. Can you guess????
Oh yes! lovely cool water about 79 degrees F began gently soaking me a bit like that scene fro Das Boot when the submarine is imploding. Pumps off again...I can be a little late for work..I just need to....JAM THE BULKHEAD NUT CROOKED ONTO THE THREADS!!! CAN"T GET IT OFF>>>>A LITTLE MORE FORCE AND THIS WILL COME RIGHT OFF. Or not!!!!
Get the Dremel cut the nut off! YES!! Now just to put in a new bulkhead...slowly and correctly this time. SURRRRRREEE! Like I have an extra 1.5 inch laying around!!!!
Call every LFS in the city. Found Just 1. "I'll be right there." "hold it for me!"
They did!
5PM this evening. All done! No problem. I even got some income producing work done today!!!
