| Kole Tang | Make sure you have a probe in the water, not those cheap stick on the glass colored tape--I measure mine in the tank, cause that is where the fish live. The sump may be hotter in the winter with the heater on etc. You can buy a coralife led for about 8 bucks. I used mine the first year until I bought a chiller which has a red led digital read out on the front panel. I still check it against my coralife now and then. Just to keep them honest. _________ You mean everybody doesn't do this ?????? 150g DT, 30g Sump (10g water), 15g Fuge, 2 Koralia #4,2 Koralia #1, 2 Maxi-Jet 600 PH, Coralife SS, 330lbs Fiji, Live Sand in DT & Fuge, T-5 8x54w Lighting, 1/3 hp JBJ Arctica Chiller, H20 Science 4-Stage RO/DI, Dual Inline TDS Meter, Phosban Reactor, Carbon Reactor, Moonlights, Coralife 18w Turbo Twist U.V. | Peppermint Shrimp | I have a normal thermometer in the sump of my tank. Those stick on type really dont work well. It is in an area that gets water directly out of the DT so it should be a good indicator of the tanks temp. |

| Torch Coral | I have mine in the DT. I feel that if it was in the sump I wouldn't check it. Out of sight out of mind kind of thing. _________ 100 gal reef: 4x56w t5 Livestock: yellow tang (C-3PO), 2 ocellaris clowns, 2 green chromis, Royal Gramma, PJ cardinal, Fire fish Corals: mushrooms, rics, xenia (pulsing and waving) green button polyp, yellow polyp 10 gal mantis tank: male N. wennerae. | Coral Banded Shrimp | Digital thermometers with probe in the water are ok, but have a tendancy to read a little wrong, i use a digital and i check it 3 times a day. If and when i buy a new thermometer i would go with just a standard and let it float inside the DT _________ 72G BF, T5 HO W/ Moonlights, Softy and Sps Dominated, Various Hermits, Snails, 1 Brittle Star, 1 Yellow Tang, 1 Percula, 1 Domino, 1 Coral Beauty, 3 Green Chromis, 1 Green Mandarin |

| Hammer Head Shark | I have 4 thermometers. I have the glass tube type in the tank. These all show almost the same temp: http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewIt...ry~FITETH.html I have other projects going on with the tank right now but will get a controller when I get around to it since temp. nearly killed my tank a while back. NEVER trust coralife digital thermometers. Mine is 11 degrees off. Almost all corals are dead _________ 20 Gallon Transfer tank. | Panda Puffer | The temp probes that come with controllers (like the Aquacontroller Jr) are some of the more accurate ones IME. I have 2 thermometers on my system though and have checked them both against a third to triple-check. I also keep everything in my sump in the chamber that the heaters are in. |

| Feather Star | I second the fact that the coralife digital thermometers don't read correctly. I have three of them. One reads 80. one reads 125, and the other is 68. So I really don't recommend these units. _________ 240 gal 2False percula clown's, Copperband butterfly, six line wrasse, blue hippo tang, Australian sail fin tang, Purple tang, Achillies tang, Flame hawk, 4 blue chromis, 2 engineer gobies, mixture of corals |
