| Temperature Variation I started this poll up because I lost a sally lightfoot crab I bought a week ago. The only thing I can come up with is my temp. in my tank changed as much as 4 degs. in a 24hr period.
My MH light really warms up the water.
I decided to take a fan I have and blow it over the top of the water. Yesterday I was able to keep it down to only 1.5 deg change.
So then I was just wondering what is the average amount of others, how much does your tank change in one day

| Re: Temperature Variation Hehe....that is the question isn't it. You could buy a chiller!
I have MH lighting which does warm the water up some. I have made a compromise with my tank. I would like to keep it cooler but....I keep it at about 79.5F. I run my heater and it does run a little during the day.
Without the heater, the tank fluctuates about 3 degrees or so within 24 hours (due to the lights) so I just adjusted the heat little by little until there was very little change during the day. It stabilized at about 79 - 80. I am going for stability. It does not give me wiggle room if something goes wrong tho. But I am home most days and can keep watch. _________ I Love My Sig By John Hawkins!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| Re: Temperature Variation Thanks for the reply. I thought about the chiller, but me and my tank live in an apartment. I've herd a chiller is like an AC unit that really needs to run outside. I keep the temp down as much as I can with the apt AC (I run that about 72o) |

| Re: Temperature Variation I run fans with my MH lighting and have a swamp cooler for the summer months. Tank is in an interior corner with no exposure to sun light. |

| Re: Temperature Variation Matt thanks for the compliment on the poll. With the fan on now I was able to keep the swing down to one deg. last night.
Just like it was mentioned it's just a matter of tweaking the heater. I like to get the tank cooler, but now it's averaging 80o. |
