at what temp does everyone keep there tank at?

125 gal, pro clear wet dry with built in skimmer, 2 maxi jet 1200 power heads, outer orbit with 2 150w mh and 2 130w pc, 150 pounds fiji lr, a large carpet anemone, 1 coral bannded shrimp, large colony of stars, 1 yellow tang, 1 naso tang, 1 snowflake eel, 1 koran angel juvi. i sold most of my corals to get the 125 gal tank so basicly starting over. |

I run at 78 now, but when I had a sand bed, I ran hotter (80)

I run at 78. Is there a reason you would run a hotter tank with a sand bed?

Yup, higher temp = faster matabulation (sp?). It's been said that 82 is the perfect temp to run a dsb efficiently. I couldn't run at 82, so I kept it at 80. | |

78F.
It seems at hotter temps bad stuff grows faster. I've been using treated tap water for some time. If I go over 78F I have problems.
I'm adding an RODI in a few weeks here so then my water changes won't be the same things as fertilizing the algae.
