Question Still Cycling or Over Loaded

OK,
After 6 weeks in a tranferred tank. Live water, Live sand and Live rock from a six month old tank, my Am is still .15, my N2 is .5, my N3 is 10. These numbers have been consistant throughout.

So here is my question .

How do you know if you are still cycling or your bio load is too great ?

\Cheers

No casualties. I know the numbers arn't too high, but I am looking for Zero on the Am and N2. soI can start adding corals and such.

My anemone is ragid looking but the fish, shrimp, crabs and snail are all doing fine.

So If I am cycled that would mean that this is the best the tank can do with the current load. So I would need to add more bio filtration somehow to augment. But how does one know if that is the case or I just need to wait a couple more weeks.

What is the longest Cycle time ?

I am not really sure, but anemones some time get stress and let of some kind of poison
into the water, if the fish are fine then give it some time to see what happend, and if the tank it's been up and running for a while you may want to change some of the water, hope someone enlight you little better later on

Also,
I had tested every day or so for six weeks and I never did see a spike in Am. It has always been the numbers as posted.

I know when it first starts out and you are cycling, the Am, N2, and N3 numbers will shoot up and thus needing the water changes to not kill any fish.

Well that never happened which tells me that I was mostly cycled from the get go with the Live Rock, Live Water, Live Sand, ect. Only the Live Rock was right from the old tank.

So I am worried that I am fully cycled and my Am, N2 are not where I want them and I need to figure something out to get them lower.

Maybe a few more weeks will tell.

IMO, too much, too soon. I let my tank cycle for 12 weeks+. Couldn't even tell ya when my amm. and nitrites went down, I didn't waste the test kits. Everything is beautiful now after 4 full months.

3 months, yikes..
This was a transfer from a 6 month old tank though. Shouldnt that help cut down the time ?

I am holding off on adding anything until I get to 0 though JIC

Thanks

OMG, your not supposed to do WC while cycling, nor have any livestock. The only livestock that you can have is a single damsel after 4-6 weeks into the cycle process. A cycle can last as long as 12 weeks. Im sorry to say, but your problem is that you added all that livestock while still cycling. Luna

Oh, in that case I would think the best thing to do would be to watch and do as you said with holding off on any additions. I didn't understand, I'm kinda slow . Sorry no help here, never been in that situataion. Was EVERYTHING switched over from the other tank or did you move a tank?

My system is 9yrs old, even if I add one small fish, my tank will go through a small cycle. Every new fish you add, will make your tank go through a small cycle. Luna
