salt spray

I have the nova extreme t5ho. Now I get alot of salt spray from my filter on one section of the light cover. I think I have a big problem on my hands. It's been a while since I removed the lense and I think it's stuck because of the salt that get in between the grooves. i wipe the salt buildup often but that doesn't seem to help. Anyone know what I can do? If I can't remove it I will have a hard time when it's time to change the bulbs!

Do you have too much surface agitation causing splashes or are your fish that lively?

Is there any way you can rig the bracket so it sits a bit higher?

Vinegar works great at removing salt spray! Can you position the light any differently?

No I can't poistion the light differently and there is no way to rig the legs that hold it. No my little clowns don't cause any of the problems, it's the filter I house my carbon in that causes it. It's the aquaclear and because the plastic that the water pours out from doesn't sit low near the surface of the water, I get lots of salt spray, an enormous amount. I want to get another filter for the carbon but all the other filters only allow to use those insert media's and I use a bag filled with black diamond carbon. Can you use a media bag in any filter or do you have to use the media made for the filter?

You can use filter media in different filters as I have done it. Can you rig up something like a piece of plastic to aid and be used as a splash guard?

Cut a section of Lexan or acrylic to fit on the outlet spout width then long enough to reach the waters surface and then crazy glue it or silicone that will stop the splash. Also on the slot for the light cover get some heat proof stem grease in the plumbing section of a hardware store and rub that on the lens edge Vaseline will also do unless the lights get really hot ? That will stop the salt creep from spray jamming it up.
