Default Reeflo pump users

I have been running two reeflo blackfin pumps a 3600 and a 6000 for about 5 weeks now. The 3600 leaked after 2 weeks use and now after 5 weeks the 6000 is leaking in the exact same spot. I replaced the seal in the 3600 when it happened and it seems good now. I guess I will have to replace the seal in the 6000.

Either I have the worst luck in the world or there is a defect with these pumps. Has anyone ever had a problem like this with these pumps? On a good note they are strong pumps that work well

Aren't the blackfins a test model pump? Their site still says that they are looking for test users / early adopters.

"We are introducing a new pump line ; the BlackFin pumps. Although we have tested them internally, we are in need of field test results. We will be offering a limited number of these new pumps at a significant discount."

You may want to contact them, I suspect thats the kind of feedback they need. They ask for feedback on their site. No issues with my Dart.

I use two Reeflo HammerHead pumps and the only time I have had problems with the seal leaking it was due to not having support of the plumbing on the end of the pump housing. You need to have the plumbing supported with something so the housing and shaft is not hold all the weight.

I have contacted them twice now and they said they would send out new seals but after 3 weeks I never received the first one

Ok I will build up a support on the plumping and see if that does the trick thanks!

Well I just stacked cork vibration pads under the intake pipes. I hope that solves the problem.

I have had the Reeflo Dart running for 2 weeks now. No problems with the seal yet. The plumbing running for the inlet is not long enough from the supported part to worry about that being an issue.
But I do have the OM 4 way sitting on top of the outlet with all 4 flex pvc lines going back to the tank. Should all this plumbing on the pump outlet be supported as well?

I would support it all. That is exactly what I had on top of mine was a 4-way and the weight of all that caused the seals to squall and leak prematurely.

Oh you mean to support the output plumbing???? I will have to rig something up for that. Do you think if I support it the leak will stop or do I need to replace the seal first?

Incoming and output plumbing needs to be supported. If you have run this for a while and it is already leaking then the damage is done and you should change out the seals. They are easy, took me about 15 minutes to do mine.
